With more than 14,000 employees, FedEx currently serves more than 30 countries and territories in the Asia Pacific market through its innovative FedEx Asia One network, launched in 1995. This launch included trans-Pacific flights and the creation of an Asia Pacific hub in Subic Bay, which provided overnight intra-Asian delivery among major Asian business centers.
In mainland China, FedEx Express service has led the industry, building solutions and meeting business needs for international customers. In 1996, FedEx became the sole U.S.-based express transportation company with aviation rights to China. In 2004, FedEx received 12 additional rights from the U.S. Department of Transportation to fly cargo aircraft to and from China. FedEx continues to increase flights to China, providing access to more cities across the country and throughout the Asia Pacific region than any other global express provider.
In 2007, FedEx introduced domestic express service within China to more than 19 cities. By 2008, this next-day delivery service has expanded to more than 40 cities, with second-day delivery service reaching customers in more than 200 cities throughout the country. In the first half of 2008, FedEx Office opened 12 new centers in China, with six in Beijing, five in Shanghai and one in southern China.
In late 2008, a new FedEx Express Asia Pacific hub will open in Guangzhou, China. The new hub will feature state-of-the-art technology to support real-time package tracking and an innovative, satellite-based dispatch system.
In addition to its expanding business in the region, FedEx is committed to utilizing its logistics expertise to help improve the quality of life for its customers and employees. In fact, FedEx has transported medical supplies to fight Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and provided the first private airlift of relief supplies to China following the massive earthquake in Sichuan Province in May 2008.

Serving Europe for more than 20 years, the FedEx EuroOne Network offers next-day service with late collections and early deliveries, linking hundreds of European cities, and covering more than 40,000 post codes.
The FedEx Express hub at Roissy-Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris, France, is the primary European gateway for packages sent by FedEx customers throughout the world. The airport boasts a multi-modal logistics center with good highway linkages. In order to meet the demands of European businesses, a major expansion is being planned for the facility and is expected to be completed by September 2009. To minimize its impact on the environment, more than 250 Liquefied Petroleum Gas-powered and electric-powered ground support vehicles will be housed at the hub – a full 62% of its ground fleet.
Always seeking to broaden its access within as well as between countries, in 2006 FedEx acquired ANC, a domestic express company in the United Kingdom. The company, now rebranded as FedEx UK, enables FedEx to serve the entire domestic market. Further opportunities for growth lie in the accession of Eastern European countries by the EU. With border restrictions removed, shipping traffic is expected to grow tremendously over the next five years as trade opportunities proliferate.
As a result of the robust growth and growing air express demands achieved in Germany and Eastern Europe, FedEx will transfer its German hub operations to Cologne, Germany, by 2010. The state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly facility in Cologne will feature a 1.4 megawatt solar power system with the capacity to produce approximately 1.3 gigawatt hours of electricity per year – equal to the power required for 370 homes year-round. The new ramp and sort facilities, which will be built on approximately 50,000 square meters, will include 16,000 square meters of roof space for solar panels.
Over the last five years, FedEx has made a number of significant strategic investments to its network and proudly provides customers a competitive advantage via unmatched access and connections to next-day service to the U.S. and Asia Pacific. And despite increased loads, FedEx recently achieved its highest service quality level, recording the best customer satisfaction scores in the industry.

Since FedEx Express set up operations in India in 1984, the company has played a leadership role in connecting India to the world. In fact, FedEx was the first express company to introduce an all-cargo flight in India in 1997.
Today, FedEx is the only express carrier with 16 direct weekly flights in and out of India – with Mumbai and Delhi as gateways – allowing FedEx to reach nearly 4,400 destinations in the country. In addition, FedEx is connecting India overnight with Europe and Southeast Asia, via flights to Paris. These legs opened the burgeoning Indian market to European and Asian businesses, seamlessly linking the world of business like never before.
In 2007, FedEx completed the acquisition of Pafex, one of India's largest domestic express carriers. This intra-India service reaches every city in the vast nation. This expansion of service further demonstrates the FedEx commitment to grow with India and provide uncommon access to our global customers.
Additionally, our customers will find convenient business support services available at FedEx Kinko’s in Kuwait, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates.
