FedEx CEO among the Best in America, Says Institutional Investor Magazine

Institutional Investor [1]magazine recognized Frederick W. Smith, chairman, president and chief executive officer of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) as among the best chief executives in America. Smith was named the top CEO for the Airfreight & Surface Transportation category for the second consecutive year.

In announcing its selections, Institutional Investor magazine said, “The results suggest that voters are attuned to the need for strong leaders as the economy and business environment grows more difficult. A common trait exhibited by many of the winners is experience managing through crises, scandals and turnarounds.”

To arrive at its list of Best U.S. CEOs, Institutional Investor surveyed portfolio managers, analysts and other investment professionals. It asked these individuals to name the best U.S. CEOs in the sectors in which they invest. Some 900 people at 425 institutions responded, offering first, second and third place votes in each of the sectors with which they were familiar. More information about the rankings can be found at www.iimagazine.com [2].
