In observance of International Walk to School Day on October 3, 2007, Safe Kids Puerto Rico and a group of FedEx volunteers participated at the local event at Cupey Maria Montessori School to call attention to unsafe driving practices and improve the walking environment in Ave. Winston Churchill where the school is located. 

Nationwide, pedestrian injuries are the number two cause of accidental death among children ages 5 to 14. In 2005 in Puerto Rico, 468 children were treated in emergency rooms as a result of pedestrian injuries.
