Brussels, Belgium - March 26, 2007 - FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, has been rated as Belgium’s ‘Best Employer’ as part of the 2007 Great Place to Work competition organized by the Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School.

 

It is the first time an express transportation company has won the top place honor, and the results highlighted FedEx’s commitment to diversity, flexibility and focus on its employees. FedEx, winner of last year’s Diversity Award, guarantees its employees access to the same career opportunities regardless of sex, race, nationality or religion.

The results of this year’s edition of the Great Place to Work survey show that FedEx Express employees are especially positive about the multiple training and development opportunities, and that the incentive programs are effective in motivating and rewarding them. 

 

FedEx is committed to continue building its people policies, including the ongoing improvements to communications and well-being among its employees. While employees are currently split between several locations in Belgium, the company will consolidate its presence in a one campus-like setting in La Hulpe so that it can offer employees state-of-the-art offices and training facilities.

 

Pending the usual permits and approvals, FedEx hopes to start moving employees there by May, 2009. “Feedback from employees has been very positive and we believe that a positive working environment can directly influence the effectiveness of relationships,” said Mr. Stienlet. “Bringing all headquarters and office staff together in the one location will further enhance inter-departmental communication, cooperation and collaboration.”
